BREATH WORK FOR YOUR MIND
Taking control of your breath helps you to take control of your emotions.
As we train to deepen the breath, retain it, and suspend we train ourselves to endure the "lack" of oxygen (O2) and increased carbon dioxide (CO2) by staving off the survival response in exchange for the benefits we know are coming. If we can train ourselves to relax in the deepest moments of what we need to survive, other stressors become simplified.
Consistent practice makes it easier to control our reactions when shit gets tough.
We have learned to control the heart rate and respiratory rate which directly affects the CNS and our Vagal Tone.

THE PROCESS THAT IMPROVES YOUR ATHLETICISM
A structured breath work practice helps to keep us working hard without over exerting. As we take control of our breathing we shift our respiratory rate and sync it up with the heart rate. When these 2 things are in sync our body functions optimally.
There is a lot of talk out there about how we want to "pack our bodies full of oxygen" but it is important to remember that it is not only the O2 that is working for us. CO2 is the part of the breathing that affects our respiratory rate. Because our body knows it needs to get rid of CO2 it pushes us to exhale which then requires an inhale because we NEED O2 to survive.
It is the entire process of breathing that is important.

MOVEMENT AND BREATH
When the ribcage and diaphragm do not have the support of the surrounding muscles, (pretty much every muscle in your torso), then breathing becomes dysfunctional.
Movement paired with breath brings balance back.
WTF practices are designed to activate the appropriate muscles needed for breathing, syncing up the heart and respiratory rate so that your internal environment is set up to adjust and correct stressors.
The more relaxed you are the better your body, (and mind), do.
